Green Man in The City

Further exploration into bringing ancient forms and symbols into a modern setting – the Green Man, ancient symbol of fertility, fabricated out of an old coke can and ‘metalised’ cardboard. The concepts are relevant to every society, ancient or modern and, as such, I am attempting to bring them up-to-date.

Green Man

Initial sketch made of a ‘Green Man’ (also known as ‘Jack ‘o’ Lantern’) probably to be used on a carved wood structure to house tealights. The design uses elements from sketches I made of wooden stumps, swirls and patterns from ancient stone carvings and some traditional carved stones found on many old churches.
